Please read these Terms of Service ("Terms", "Terms of Service") carefully before using the https://cartaxcheck.co.uk/ website (the "Service") operated by Click Digital Development Limited (trading as Car Tax Check) ("us", "we", or "our").

Your access to and use of the Service is conditioned on your acceptance of and compliance with these Terms. These Terms apply to all visitors, users and others who access or use the Service.

By accessing or using the Service you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you disagree with any part of the terms then you may not access the Service.

By using this service, you agree not to reproduce or extract any vehicle data from our website or mobile applications without consent from us in writing. You agree not to use any 'screen scraping' software or any other automated system to extract or reproduce vehicle data displayed on our website or mobile applications.

Purchases

You are encouraged to familiarise yourself with your rights contained within the Sale of Goods Act 1979, Unfair Contract Terms Act 1977 and the Unfair Terms in Consumer Contracts Regulations 1999.

If you wish to purchase any product or service made available through the Service ("Purchase"), you may be asked to supply certain information relevant to your Purchase including, without limitation, your credit card number, the expiration date of your credit card, your billing address, and your shipping information.

You represent and warrant that: (i) you have the legal right to use any credit card(s) or other payment method(s) in connection with any Purchase; and that (ii) the information you supply to us is true, correct and complete. You expressly agree that Click Digital Development Limited is not responsible for any loss or damage arising from the submission of false or inaccurate information.

By submitting such information, you grant us the right to provide the information to third parties for purposes of facilitating the completion of Purchases.

Termination

We may terminate or suspend your access immediately, without prior notice or liability, for any reason whatsoever, including without limitation if you breach the Terms.

Upon termination, your right to use the Service will immediately cease.

All provisions of the Terms which by their nature should survive termination shall survive termination, including, without limitation, ownership provisions, warranty disclaimers, indemnity and limitations of liability.

Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed and construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales, without regard to its conflict of law provisions.

Our failure to enforce any right or provision of these Terms will not be considered a waiver of those rights. If any provision of these Terms is held to be invalid or unenforceable by a court, the remaining provisions of these Terms will remain in effect. These Terms constitute the entire agreement between us regarding our Service, and supersede and replace any prior agreements we might have between us regarding the Service.

Changes

We reserve the right, at our sole discretion, to modify or replace these Terms at any time. If a revision is material we will try to provide at least 30 days notice prior to any new terms taking effect. What constitutes a material change will be determined at our sole discretion.

By continuing to access or use our Service after those revisions become effective, you agree to be bound by the revised terms. If you do not agree to the new terms, you must stop using the service.

Click Digital Development Limited ("we", "us", "our") operates Car Tax Check, available at cartaxcheck.co.uk, together with related applications, APIs and integrations including the Car Tax Check integration with ChatGPT (collectively, the "Service").

This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect, why we collect it, how it is used and shared, how long it is retained, and the rights and controls available to you.

We are committed to handling personal information in accordance with applicable UK data protection law, including the UK General Data Protection Regulation ("UK GDPR") and the Data Protection Act 2018.

1. Information We Collect

The information we collect depends on which parts of the Service you use.

Vehicle information
When you carry out a vehicle check, we process information relating to the vehicle, such as:

• vehicle registration number;
• vehicle details returned by our data providers;
• MOT, tax, mileage and vehicle specification information;
• vehicle history information where available;
• vehicles you choose to save to your Car Tax Check Garage.

A vehicle registration number will not ordinarily identify an individual by itself, but in some circumstances vehicle information may be capable of being associated with a user account or other information.

Account information
If you create a Car Tax Check account, we may process:

• your email address;
• your name, where supplied;
• your internal account or user identifier;
• vehicles saved to your account;
• reminder and notification settings;
• purchased vehicle reports;
• voucher, credit or account balances;
• information about account features you use.

Creating an account can provide access to additional vehicle information and functionality that is not available to anonymous users.

In some cases, registration is required because of contractual or security requirements imposed by third-party data suppliers. For example, certain data connected with official or law-enforcement-derived vehicle information may only be made available to registered users.

Purchase and transaction information
Where you purchase a report or other service, we may process information relating to that transaction, including:

• the product or report purchased;
• purchase date and amount;
• payment status;
• transaction identifiers;
• other payment-related information necessary to record the purchase and provide continued access to it.

Payment processing may be carried out by third-party payment providers. We only retain information necessary for operating your account, providing purchased products, accounting, fraud prevention and related purposes.

Technical and log information
When you interact with our website, applications, APIs or integrations, our systems may automatically record technical information including:

• IP address;
• date and time of a request;
• browser or user-agent information;
• requested API endpoint or service;
• request parameters relevant to the operation being performed;
• account or user identifier where the request is authenticated;
• error and diagnostic information;
• security and abuse-prevention information.

We use this information primarily to operate, secure, troubleshoot and improve the Service and to prevent fraud or abuse.

We do not use server logs to build behavioural advertising profiles.

2. Anonymous Vehicle Checks

Many basic Car Tax Check vehicle checks can be performed without creating or signing into an account.

For an anonymous vehicle check, we process the vehicle registration and other information necessary to respond to that request.

Certain additional data or functionality may require a free Car Tax Check account. This may be necessary to provide account-specific features or to comply with restrictions imposed by our third-party data suppliers.

3. ChatGPT and Car Tax Check Integration

Car Tax Check can be connected to ChatGPT through our MCP integration.

Public use
Certain Car Tax Check functionality, including basic public vehicle checks, may be used through ChatGPT without connecting a Car Tax Check account.

For example, ChatGPT may send us a vehicle registration number when the user asks for information about that vehicle.

Authenticated use
Features that access information belonging to your Car Tax Check account require you to explicitly connect your account using OAuth.

Once authorised, ChatGPT may request permitted information from your account on your behalf, such as:

• vehicles saved to your Garage;
• purchased reports;
• account-related information;
• voucher or credit information;
• other account functionality made available through the integration.

The permissions requested during authentication are limited to the functionality made available through the integration.

What ChatGPT receives
Car Tax Check does not provide ChatGPT with your Car Tax Check password.

OAuth is used to authorise authenticated requests without disclosing your password to ChatGPT.

Our MCP integration receives only the information necessary to perform the requested operation, such as a vehicle registration number or a request to retrieve saved vehicles.

We do not receive or reconstruct your entire ChatGPT conversation or chat history.

Information exchanged with ChatGPT is also subject to OpenAI's own privacy practices.

Disconnecting ChatGPT
You can revoke ChatGPT's authenticated access to your Car Tax Check account.

Revoking access prevents future authenticated requests through that connection. It does not automatically delete your Car Tax Check account or information stored within it.

You may separately delete your Car Tax Check account through your online account.

4. How We Use Your Information

We use personal information where necessary to:

• provide vehicle checks and vehicle information;
• create and operate Car Tax Check accounts;
• provide Garage and saved-vehicle functionality;
• provide tax, MOT and other vehicle reminders;
• provide access to reports you have purchased;
• provide additional vehicle information available to registered users;
• authenticate users;
• operate the ChatGPT integration;
• administer vouchers, credits and account entitlements;
• process and record transactions;
• provide customer support;
• diagnose technical problems;
• monitor the reliability and performance of the Service;
• prevent fraud, abuse and unauthorised use;
• comply with obligations imposed by vehicle-data suppliers;
• comply with legal, regulatory and accounting obligations;
• improve our products and services.

We aim to collect and use only information reasonably necessary for these purposes.

5. Legal Bases for Processing

Depending on the circumstances, we process personal information on one or more of the following legal bases:

Performance of a contract
Where processing is necessary to provide a service you have requested, operate your account, provide purchased reports or perform another contractual obligation.

Legitimate interests
Where processing is reasonably necessary for our legitimate business interests, including:

• operating and improving the Service;
• maintaining security;
• preventing fraud and abuse;
• diagnosing technical problems;
• maintaining appropriate service records.

We consider these interests against your rights and privacy.

Consent
Where processing relies on your consent, such as optional marketing communications.

You may withdraw your consent at any time.

Legal obligations
Where information must be retained or processed to comply with tax, accounting, regulatory, fraud-prevention or other legal requirements.

6. Marketing Communications

Marketing emails are optional.

Where applicable, you may choose to opt in to marketing communications when creating or using your Car Tax Check account.

You can withdraw your consent and unsubscribe at any time using the unsubscribe link included in our marketing emails.

Unsubscribing from marketing emails does not prevent us from sending important transactional, security or service-related communications relating to your account.

7. Analytics

We use Google Analytics to understand how the Service is being used and to measure anonymous events such as page usage and interactions.

We do not use Google Analytics to identify individual users or create advertising profiles.

We do not use cookies for analytics or advertising tracking.

We may use strictly necessary cookies or similar technologies where required for functions such as authentication, security, maintaining sessions or storing essential preferences.

8. Who We Share Information With

We do not sell personal information.

We may disclose information to service providers where reasonably necessary for operating the Service.

Categories of recipients may include:

Cloud and infrastructure providers
We use providers including Google Cloud and Firebase for services such as hosting, databases, authentication, APIs, logging and infrastructure.

Network and security providers
We use services including Cloudflare to help deliver, protect and secure our websites and online services.

Vehicle-data providers
We use third-party data suppliers to provide vehicle information.

Depending on the requested feature, this may include commercial data suppliers and information originating from official or government sources.

Some suppliers impose requirements concerning who may access particular information, including requirements for users to be registered.

Payment providers
Payment providers may process information necessary to complete purchases and prevent payment fraud.

Email and notification providers
We may use third-party providers to deliver account notifications, reminders, transactional messages and marketing communications where you have opted in.

Analytics providers
We use analytics services such as Google Analytics for aggregated and anonymous service measurement.

OpenAI
If you use the Car Tax Check integration with ChatGPT, information required to perform your requested operation may be exchanged between Car Tax Check and OpenAI.

This only occurs as necessary to provide the integration or as otherwise described in this Privacy Policy.

Legal and security disclosures
We may disclose information where reasonably necessary to:

• comply with law or legal process;
• protect our rights or the rights of others;
• investigate fraud or abuse;
• protect the security of our users, systems or services.

Service providers acting on our behalf are expected to use information only for the purposes for which it has been provided and in accordance with applicable law.

9. How Long We Keep Information

We retain different categories of information for different periods depending on why the information is required.

Account information
Account information is generally retained for as long as your Car Tax Check account remains active.

We do not normally delete an account merely because it has not recently been used.

We may remove individual pieces of information that are no longer useful or relevant. For example, we may remove inactive saved vehicles where a vehicle is no longer registered with the DVLA or where you indicate that you no longer own it.

Purchased reports and transaction records
Records required to maintain access to reports or other products you have purchased are generally retained for as long as your account remains active so that we can continue providing those purchases to you.

If you request deletion of your account, this information will normally be deleted together with the account, except where we are required to retain limited records for legal, accounting, security or fraud-prevention reasons.

Diagnostic logs
Application and diagnostic logs stored in our standard Google Cloud logging environment are generally retained for approximately 30 days, unless a different retention period has been configured for a particular log or system.

Certain audit logs operated by our infrastructure providers may be subject to different retention periods.

Fraud, abuse and security records
Where reasonably necessary, limited information may be retained after account deletion to:

• prevent repeated abuse of our systems;
• investigate suspected fraud;
• prevent payment fraud or chargeback abuse;
• protect our users and infrastructure;
• comply with legal requirements.

We aim to retain only the minimum information necessary for those purposes and only for as long as reasonably required.

OAuth information
OAuth authorisation codes are temporary and are intended only to complete the authentication process.

Authorisations may remain valid until they expire or are revoked. You can revoke ChatGPT's access to your Car Tax Check account.

10. Deleting Your Account and Data

You can delete your Car Tax Check account directly through the website.

Account information is deleted when you request account deletion, subject to limited information that we may need to retain for legal, accounting, fraud-prevention, abuse-prevention or security purposes.

Deleting your account may permanently remove:

• your saved vehicles;
• vehicle reminders;
• account settings;
• access to purchased reports;
• other information associated with the account.

Deletion cannot necessarily remove information that has already been legitimately retained in security or audit logs until those logs reach the end of their applicable retention period.

11. Accessing and Managing Your Information

You can view the personal and account information ordinarily held about you through your Car Tax Check account.

This includes information such as:

• saved vehicles;
• purchased reports;
• account details;
• relevant account balances and settings.

Technical logging information is not normally displayed within your account.

You can also:

• delete individual saved vehicles;
• update supported account settings;
• unsubscribe from marketing emails;
• revoke ChatGPT authentication;
• delete your Car Tax Check account.

12. Your Data Protection Rights

Subject to applicable law and any relevant exemptions, you may have rights including:
